Family Fun Festival

The 2nd Annual Malibu Festival takes place Sunday, May 6 at 30237 Morning View Drive in Malibu, The family event unites our community with an all ages festival-style fundraiser benefiting Malibu’s public elementary schools—100% of proceeds benefit Juan Cabrillo, Point Dume Marine Science and Webster elementary schools! Malibu Festival is a creative event that draws families and friends together to celebrate. Enjoy live performances by local musicians and youth, enjoy a taste of Malibu cuisine and play fun games, crafts and attractions for kids of all ages! Malibu Festival has something for everyone. 

Musical Entertainment

The 58th Annual Topanga Banjo-Fiddle Contest & Folk Festival on May 20 at Paramount Ranch features a main stage with over 100 instrumental and singing contestants competing for cash and gift awards, many professional bands, a dance barn with square dancing, clogging and other dancing to live music, jam sessions (bring your instruments), a children’s area, folk art and wares, great food and more. Advance tickets available online. $17 for ages 18-64 and $13 for ages 10-17 and 65+. ($23 and $18 at the gate.) Kids under 10 get in free, accompanied by adult of course. Tiny Porch: Big Talent

In cooperation with the National Park Service, Tiny Porch Concerts presents “Summer Concerts at Peter Strauss Ranch.” Set among the giant oak trees in Agoura Hills Canyon, the historic ranch is the venue for five free concerts, running monthly from May through September. The concerts feature double-bill performances at each event.  

May 13 features the Eagle Rock Gospel Singers, a six-member band that creates a unique blend of rhythm and blues, alternative-country, indie-folk, and folk, with guest Hayley Reardon, a powerful folk singer/songwriter from Nashville. 

The Peter Strauss Ranch is easily accessible, nestled in the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains off Mulholland Highway in Agoura Hills. Concert goers are encouraged to bring their own blankets or low-back chairs, picnic during the concerts and explore the ranch.  

VIP ticket holders have reserved seating areas and chairs within the quaint amphitheater. VIPs will also enjoy complimentary wine and cheese next to the stage. Individual show VIP tickets and season passes for all five concerts are available. General admission is free.

“The Sleeping Beauty”

Bring the whole family to enjoy Pacific Festival Ballet’s production of “The Sleeping Beauty,” Saturday, May 19, with showtimes at 2 and 7 p.m. This classic fairytale comes to life as a ballet at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, Fred Kavli Theatre. The story features beautiful Princess Aurora, who is protected from evil Carabosse’s spell by her guardian fairies. Instead of dying, the Lilac Fairy puts the Princess into a deep sleep. The awakening kiss of a handsome Prince is certain to cast a spell on Aurora’s heart and your imagination.
